The following was taken from the Yorkshire Regiment website

Killed in action 12 Mar 1915. Born at Whitwell, Rutland and enlisted at Stamford, Lincs while living in Yarm. Rue-Petillon Mil Cem, Fleurbaix, France

Yarm1914 believe that Herbert Cecil was born in 1887 in Whitwell and lived in Church Lane. His father Thomas William was a road labourer aged 29 and his mother Fanny was 26. He had a sister Eliza Ann aged 7 and brother John Edward aged 5. In 1879 Rhoda Elizabeth joined the family followed by Thomas William in 1899. In 1899 Eliza Ann married George William Taylor and moved to Leicester. By 1911 Rhoda was a servant at the Rectory in Oackham and Herbert had married Lydia Mary Hill from Castleton in 1908 in Skipton and lived in 7 Clitheroe Street. He worked as a railway porter. After signing up to the Lincolnshire Regiment as a private he arrived in France on 5 November 1914. He was soon promoted to Lance Corporal. His next of kin Lydia M recieved his war medals.
